There are many characters that I've enjoyed reading over the years, but my favorite character is Dallas Winston from S.E. Hinton's The Outsiders. He is one of my favorite characters because although he isn't the protagonist, he controls the direction of the story...on his terms. Dallas plays by his own rules and doesn't apologize for his behavior. Sadly, he is gunned down by the local police after his best friend Johnny dies, but his spirit lives on with the other characters. Without Dallas Winston, The Outsiders would have just been another book and not the classic story every most people have come to love!

ReplyDeleteThere are many different characters that I have read about over the years. My favorite character is Elijah from Elijah OF BUXTON. In the book Elijah has to track down a thief who stole his friend Cooters'money that he was saving up to use to buy his parents out of captivity. Elijah gets what he needs but is in trouble with finding a way home. He has to get home because his parents are getting worried about him. Elijah is a "fra-gile" boy as his mother says. Elijah has a big fear of snakes and doesn't know how to overcome them. I think the book would of been useless without his humor and braveness.
ReplyDeleteThere are many characters that I have enjoyed in different books. In the book, The House on Mango Street,by Sandra Cisneros, my favorite character is Esperanza. Esperanza, who is the protagonist lives her life in the present, and tries to make the best out of any situation. She lives in a poor neighborhood and house, but makes friends, and does other things. For example, she buys a bike with Rachel and Lucy, who Esperanza befriends. The bike symbolizes the friendship between Lucy, Rachel, and Esperanza. She makes the best out of a situation by becoming friends with Rachel and Lucy, she is making the best out of the situation. Without Esperanza coming of age and learning what she did, there would be no point in the book.
